Noida Police Returns Over 100 Lost Mobile Phones! Here’s What to Do If You Lose Yours
Noida Police successfully recovered and returned more than 100 lost smartphones using CEIR, IMEI tracking, and surveillance footage. Citizens advised to act quickly via official portals.

In a commendable initiative, Noida Police has returned over 100 lost smartphones to their rightful owners. These devices were misplaced in autos, buses, metro stations, or other public places, and were recovered using advanced surveillance methods and CEIR tracking.
How Were the Phones Tracked?
According to police officials, most of the devices were traced using their IMEI numbers through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. Real-time monitoring, mobile network tracing, and CCTV footage played a key role in identifying and tracking these lost phones.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Shakti Mohan Awasthi, with active participation from the Central Surveillance Cell and Phase-2 police station teams.
Citizens Often Give Up Too Early
Many users mistakenly assume that once a phone is lost, it is gone forever. However, CEIR now makes it easier and more effective to track lost devices. Police authorities stress the importance of timely complaint registration to increase the chances of phone recovery.
How to Report a Lost Mobile Phone
If you’ve lost your smartphone recently, follow these steps immediately:
- Visit the official CEIR portal: https://www.ceir.gov.in
- Register your complaint using the IMEI number of the device.
- Contact your nearest police station and provide them with a copy of the complaint.
CEIR Portal: A Game-Changer for Lost Devices
The CEIR portal helps users block or trace their lost smartphones using the IMEI number. Once blocked, a stolen or lost phone becomes unusable across all mobile networks in India, reducing the chances of misuse.
Noida Police’s Dedication Recognized
This successful recovery mission has not only boosted public trust but also earned the police a reported reward of ₹25,000. The initiative is being appreciated widely for its efficiency and impact.
